The PP increased to Parliament a motion for the exclusion of Murcia on the agenda of events to mark the presidency of the European Union (22/02/2010)

The Municipal People's rise to the regular plenary session of February, to be held tomorrow Tuesday, February 23 at 20:00 pm in the consistory aquiline, a motion for the exclusion of the Region of Murcia on the agenda events organized by the National Government because of the rotating presidency of the European Union.

The motion to be debated in plenary session by all political groups represented municipal, reads as follows:

The Murcia region has been off the agenda of class activities organized by the National Government in connection with the presidency of the EU during this semester of 2010.

This agenda includes international summits, ministerial meetings and sector forums of undoubted interest, projection and transcendence.

We believe that the government of Spain has revealed his decision to unequal treatment and exclusive to the Region of Murcia, which has been left out of the map of these high profile events, despite the extensive experience and capacity of our region in organizing international events, as was demonstrated in 2002 under the previous Spanish presidency of the EU and the Popular Party government, in which our region hosted the meeting of ministers of agriculture and which were addressed important issues for Murcia as those relating to water.

Last July, the Secretary of State for the EU, Mr. Diego Lopez Garrido, after an interview in Murcia with the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, which he described as "the most active regional president in Europe announced that the Region of Murcia would host high-level meetings.

At that meeting, the president formally reiterated Valcárcel M. López Garrido formal request to be held in the Region of Murcia class meetings on water, emergencies, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and rural development, as previously requested written to the First Deputy Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega.

Therefore, the decision of the Executive, chaired by Mr Rodriguez Zapatero of marginalizing the region of Murcia on the agenda of first-line events held in Spain for the presidency of the European Union is unwarranted and is a contempt all Murcia, and a breach of what was announced by the central government representatives.

Therefore, it is submitted for consideration by the plenary to approve the following agreements:

FIRST .- To urge the National Government a clear, rational and concrete reasons for what has excluded the Murcia region of class acts in our nation organized on the occasion of the rotating presidency of the European Union and a correction that would put the region in the place that rightfully belongs in the national and European context.

SECOND .- Require the National Government the conclusion of the Council of Ministers of the European Union in the Region of Murcia.

THIRD .- To transfer of these agreements to the Prime Minister, the vice presidents of Government and the chairmen of the parliamentary groups in the Cortes.
