The Eagles Yacht Club hosts the sixth day tomorrow "The Region of Murcia, facing the sea ' (21/08/2009)

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning organized the conference tomorrow 'The Region of Murcia, facing the sea' in the yacht club of Eagles, in the program of activities that are taking place throughout the months of July and August throughout the regional coast.

The conference, which has already been made in Cartagena, Lo Pagan, Los Alcazares, Mazarron Cabo de Palos and, aim to approach and familiarize citizens with the marinas "to improve knowledge of the ports of the region, one of purposes that the regional government has set itself to bring sailing to the citizens and visitors to the community, "said the Director of Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandoval.

So, from 10:00 am you can visit a photo exhibition on the coastline of the Region of Murcia at the headquarters of Club Nautico de Aguilas, located in the Paseo de la Parra, and you can learn about the marina Juan Montiel, through guided tours.

Another activity will be the day cleaning the creeks of Paraje Barranco de la Mar, thanks to the availability of volunteers dinghies and everything needed to perform the cleanup.

The expected participation of 40 to 50 volunteers, many of them from diving clubs and the association of fishermen, as it is an activity that takes place every year during the summer under the name "Caring for the sea."

This project aims to raise public awareness of the importance of cleanliness of the beaches, despite being a state competition, "is a task that all citizens should practice when on any beach in our region to enjoy a coast in optimal conditions, "said Sandoval said.

In the afternoon you can attend, Placetón Building of City Hall, an exhibition composed of 28 models of boats built between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, from Spain and six other European countries and the United States, most participants in relevant historical facts.

The exhibition will feature models of the Titanic, the ship of the Spanish Armada Juan Sebastian de Elcano, and the sailing ship Endeavour, the first English sailing ship America Cup finalist in 1934.

To finish the day, is hosting a conference at the Social Hall Yacht Club, entitled 'voyage of stars', by the astronomer José Francisco Montalbán, which will focus on the importance of stars for navigation.

The programming will return to the Mar Menor to end on 29 August at the headquarters of the Club Náutico El Estacio, where among other activities, you can discover how filmed 'The Nautical Chart' through one of its actors, Javier García Gallego .
