Nearly fifty students participate in the program "Youth Correspondents' (23/06/2009)

The director of the Institute for Youth, Veronica Lopez, and CEO of Educational Development and Innovation, Carlos Romero, this morning visited the participants of the program "Youth Correspondent", who have gathered at the youth hostel Calarreona in Eagles to take stock of the first year of operation of this project to decentralize information.

For two days, young people who have exercised 'Correspondents' during the 2008-2009 school year in secondary schools in the Region of Murcia have assessed their performance and have shared their experiences as informants.

This program aims to spread the use of Youth in the Autonomous Community of Murcia and listen to the concerns of young people to deliver them to the Institute of Youth.

Veronica Lopez said that for next year "we hope to increase the number of participants in this project, in which young people themselves have been through the figure of" Youth Correspondent ", who have taken charge of bringing information to other youth that interests them. "

For his part, Carlos Romero said the support of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment for this initiative, "because we understand that the information on leisure time has also come to the educational environment," noting that the Ministry "has a line of support addressed to the federations and confederations of Student Associations to conduct training activities, participation in school councils and leisure. "

A total of 46 students have completed the Youth Correspondent 'functions' in different spheres of action of this program, such as schools, museums, libraries and the University of Murcia (UMU).

The first to join this project, promoted by the Institute of Youth and the General Educational Development, have been 22 secondary education institutes spread over the municipalities of Abanilla, Abarán, Alguazas, Alhama de Murcia, Archena, Beniel, Calasparra, Cehegín, Ceuta, Fortuna, Jumilla, Lorca Lorqui Mazarrón Moratalla, Mula, Puerto Lumbreras, San Pedro del Pinatar, Santomera, Torre Pacheco Totana.

Also participated, through an agreement with the General Directorate of Books, Archives and Libraries, eight municipal libraries, in addition to the Regional Library in the mediators, involving ten to join the correspondent functions youth.

We have selected those libraries that are part of the project 'Multicultural Library', located in the municipalities of Fuente Alamo, Lorca, Los Alcazares, Mazarrón, San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco, Murcia, Totana and through the Library Regional.

Owned regional museums also joined this project, through the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets.

Thus, 13 guides youth correspondents exercised in six museums, including the Barranda (Caravaca de la Cruz), Mula, and the rest in the city of Murcia, including the Archaeological Museum, the Fine Arts, Santa Clara and Salzillo.

The UMU involved with 'Youth Correspondents' with four students who work in Information Services University of the campus of La Merced and Espinardo.
