The Consortium for Fire Fighting and Rescue increase its staff by 10 percent and reaches the 330 firefighters (30/06/2008)

The Region of Murcia has today with 30 new fire-drivers in addition to the 300 that make up the staff of the Consortium for Fire Fighting and Rescue (CEIS) after training period.

These additions represent an increase of 10 percent of the workforce.

Starting tomorrow, these new troops will begin their work as firefighters in 7 of the 15 parks that the CEIS is distributed by the Region.

In particular, the Eagles will get more firefighters park, with a total of ten.

Twenty firefighters will join other parks Yecla (8), Jumilla (4), Lorca (3), La Manga (2), Molina de Segura (2) and Cieza (1).

The Minister of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning, Benito Mercader, who chaired the event by its Chairman of the CEIS, said "it's great news for the safety of the citizens of the region including these 30 firefighters after a tough selection process and training, which they demonstrated their knowledge and attitudes as well as a great ability to deliver to society.

These 30 firefighters began their training on March 3, after approving the 2007/2008 competitions which 520 people aspired.

The training course was conducted in two parts, one theoretical and practical, and was composed of 19 modules.

During its development, the target set by the Training Area of CEIS was to give students the capacity to carry out the work of fire-drivers within the Consortium.

Along with this premise, it has placed particular emphasis on standards of attitude, camaraderie and teamwork, values that should prevail in a firefighter for the proper and, above all safely carry out their work.

Merchant said that "from the regional government will spare no personal resources, as these 30 new firefighters, and materials in order to give individuals an effective response when an accident or is in danger."

The ceremony of helmets, which is the effective incorporation of 30 members of the CEIS, was chaired by the Minister of Sustainable Development and Planning, Benito Mercader, who accompanied the Civil Protection director general and vice president of CEIS, Luis Gestoso , and the manager of the Consortium, Mariano Sánchez.

Composition CEIS

The Consortium for Fire Fighting and Rescue Services is a public entity owned by the autonomous region and 43 of the municipalities of the region (all but Murcia and Cartagena).

In order to intervene in emergencies to be declared in all the municipalities in the region, the CEIS are fifteen fire stations distributed throughout the Community, 150 vehicles and 335 effective intervention.

The parks are located in the towns of Yecla, Jumilla, Cieza, Caravaca de la Cruz, Mula, Molina de Segura, Sewer, Alhama de Murcia, Totana, Lorca, Aguilas, Mazarrón, La Manga, Los Alcazares, Abanilla and Fuente Alamo (the latter under construction).
