United Left-Green Eagles complaint Saharawi political prisoner death of Hassana Eluali (04/10/2014)

In 1975, taking advantage of the weakness of the Franco government, King Hassan II of Morocco organized the Green March (350,000 organized movement to occupy the Spanish Moroccan Sahara) and headed towards the Saharan borders that were under the Spanish administration.

The Franco regime, weakened by illness dictator, chose to retire and cede the territory to Hassan II.

Years before, was a movement for emerging Saharawi liberation in 1973 which resulted in the creation of the Polisario Front.

Since then, hundreds of activists grouped in such an organization fighting for the call for a referendum on the territory of Western Sahara which are Sahrawis who decide on their future.

One of those activists is essential Hassana Eluali, member of the Saharawi Association against torture.

The Moroccan state kept him in prison since 2012, serving a three-year sentence for his part in demonstrations.

The lack of medical care and mistreatment in prison led to his death on 29 September.

Like Hassana Eluali, many Saharawi political prisoners who suffer brutal repression by Moroccan authorities imperialist.

From United Left-Green Eagles denounce this situation and once again show our support for the Saharawi people in their legitimate claim.

Yesterday, our local coordinator, Pedro Hernandez, attended the rally outside the City Council convened by the Association of Friends of the Saharawi peoples, thereby denouncing aquiline citizenship to the crimes committed by Morocco against the Saharawi dissent.

Sahara freedom!
