The People's Party Eagles will fully support a proposal to farmers and growers affected by the veto of Russia (18/09/2014)

The local president of the People's Party and mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez, rise to regular full month of September, for study, discussion and approval a proposal to support farmers and producers affected by Russia's veto on exports .

The motion, to be debated in plenary by all political groups represented municipal, reads as follows:

The main agricultural producers in our region depend to a large percentage of foreign markets.

The ban imposed by the Russian Federation to the EU exports is seriously harming producers of fruit and vegetables from all over the country and especially to the Region of Murcia, for his great dependence on sales of its products in abroad, with Russia one of the recipient countries.

According to verified data, in 2013, Spain exported to Russia 290,684 tons, representing 1'99% of total exports.

It is also necessary to note that many European operators located in countries such as Poland, Germany, Holland and France, re-shipped large quantities of fruits and vegetables from Murcia to the Russian market.

Overall, the impact suffered by the agricultural products in the EU is estimated at 5.252 million euros, 338 million in the case of Spain.

The situation, every day that passes, it becomes unsustainable.

Our farmers fear the effects of this Russian veto be even more devastating, because no one knows what is going to take this situation of 'political crisis' between Russia and the EU, so it is urgent to act quickly, effectively and concreteness because our farmers can not 'pay the piper' and our food products can not be a bargaining chip in a crisis like this.

For all the above, the Municipal People in the City of Eagle intends to urge the Regional Government, to move it to the Government of Spain and this in turn to the European Commission to:

That all products that may be affected on the list eligible for aid from the European Union, in order to offset the negative effects of the ban imposed by Russia on imports from the EU are included.

That weekly monitoring is done to determine the evolution of the measures taken by the EU, consumption data, prices and volumes.

Similarly, a follow-up, very punctual is conducted, on how it is affecting the 'Russian crisis' the fruit and vegetable sector, articulating block measures, serious, hard and fast before the situation created by the' Russian veto 'agricultural products.

That is made available to the affected countries an economic game, enough to use it to support actions on selected products.

Community regulations aid the affected products are in force, while the tax veto by Russia to keep our exports.

Request the Government of Spain to carry out advocacy and outreach, to encourage the consumption of fruits and vegetables as well as finding new foreign markets.
