Students of "eco-schools Coastlines" program visited yesterday Saltaor Mill and its surroundings, accompanied by the Councillor for Education, Francisco Clemente, and the technical director of the Yacht Club, Juan Pedro Pérez-Castejón, with monitors these activities extracurricular.
Attendees had the opportunity to know the history and operation of this infrastructure, an old mill that used as the driving force for the movement of the grinding machines, continuous flow of water, collected through a raft located 17 meters high, where fell to collide with a propeller turning stones triggering pounded wheat, making flour.
All this, designed with a water back, so he could continue to function in times of drought.
This program activity aims to foster in students a curiosity about his identity and appreciate the importance of core values ​​that enrich Eagles, its coastline and its diversity, to act with respect, by understanding the environment in which we live.
Develop a relationship with the natural habitat and actively contribute to the protection, preservation and improvement of the environment, is one of the purposes of this initiative in which over 200 primary schoolchildren participate.
Among the purposes of "eco-schools Coastlines" which promotes the Department of Education and the Nautical Club of Eagle, is also know the natural heritage through visits to points of special interest, and sailing, making an approach to environment and society, developing an attitude of interest and respect for the exercise of this right.
The methodology used in these extracurricular activities enables students to learn while having fun, attending guided tours, workshops and excursions, which are complemented by educational work within the school.
