The Eagles Diabetes Association (ADIA) organized a conference last night to mark the World Diabetes Day.

It took place at the Cultural Hall Cajamurcia and was attended by the mayor of Health of the Consistory aquiline, Ana Maria Miñarro, and the chairman of ADIA, Juan Carlos Prisons, along with many members and guests.

The lecture, sponsored by the firm DiaBalance, was held under the title "Practical aspects in the lifestyle of the person with diabetes" and was given by Laura Alonso Lopez, therapeutic nurse educator in this area.

Alonso focused his presentation on three key aspects "diet, exercise and weight control" and explained that 14% of the Spanish population is diabetic and 7% does not realize it.

According to the teacher "if we continue like this, in 2030 one in ten people suffer this disease."

Finally, we discussed the basics about the different types of diabetes and food myths.

Meanwhile, Ana Maria Miñarro wanted to show their support for people with this disease and highlighted the work done by ADIA.

The council said that "there are currently 285 million people worldwide with diabetes, by 6.6% of the population, and stressed the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles."
