The ship Angeles Alvariño the Spanish Institute of Oceanography docks at Eagles (15/02/2013)

This morning has been received by the mayor of Eagle, with the director general of Research and Management of the National R + D + i and the director of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography.

The ship Alvariño Angeles, one of the most modern ships of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, has docked this morning at the fishing port of Aguilas, where he was received by Mayor Hernández Bartolomé, with the director general of Research and Management of the National R & D + i, Juan María Vázquez, and the director of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, Eduardo Balguerías.

The Alvariño Angeles, which has less than a year old since it was launched in the Port of Vigo, has the most advanced technology to conduct research surveys of marine geology, physical and chemical oceanography, marine biology, fisheries and environmental control .

During his brief days in the town, will work on the mapping and study of habitats of this area of ​​the Mediterranean, within the project "Copesands".

The ship, 46 meters long, has a capacity to accommodate 15 researchers and 12 crew.

Among its peculiarities highlights its low noise, allowing scientists to work without altering the behavior of marine fauna, being totally respectful of the environment.
