Volunteers are distributed through the streets of Murcia to collect signatures (07/07/2012)

In just two months, the promoter group of the Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) for the retroactive payment in the suspension of evictions and rent has collected 200,000 signatures social to get the change of mortgage legislation.

The promoter of the ILP group consists of CCCO, the CEAV (Confederation of Neighborhood Associations), EAPN-EN (European Network for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion), DESC Observatory, the Platform for Mortgages Affected and the UGT.

On April 23 officially began collecting the 500,000 signatures needed statewide for the ILP is admitted by the Congress of Deputies, but the development group hopes to collect many more, due to the social outcry in our country to injustice and mortgage finance system, which is taking an indecent number of victims in the form of families being evicted.

According to the General Council of Judicial Power between 2007 and 2011 there have been more than 350,000 foreclosures in the Spanish State.

The Autonomous Communities that have the dubious honor of topping the ranking of evictions are Andalusia (68053), Catalonia (65,670) and Valencia (65,220).

This ILP proposes a change in mortgage law to regulate the payment in kind-that with the delivery of housing mortgage debt is canceled, with retroactive effect, the suspension of evictions and the promotion of social rent.

For the first time in Spain, you can also sign and become a notary, who attest to the authenticity of signatures, the ILP so online through the web www.quenotehipotequenlavida.org.

So far notaries have been credited as the ILP 2,550 people around the state.

The deadline for collecting signatures ends next October, so the institutions carrying out the ILP ask every citizen involvement and the sum of the maximum efforts to overcome the 500,000 signatures before this date and present a much stronger our proposed legislative amendment to the Congress of Deputies.

At present, voluntary organizations, entities and institutions of the EAPN (European Network for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion) are in the streets of the municipality of Murcia, requesting the cooperation of citizens in this case.

All persons wishing to participate in the initiative also can do so at the headquarters of these organizations (see www.eapn.es)
