The desalination plant "Eagles-Guadalentín" starts the water being tested (27/06/2012)

The mayor of Eagle, along with other local and regional authorities, today attended an event organized by the Irrigation Community to mark the arrival of the first supplies to the raft of Salinares (Peñaranda reservoir).

The mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez, and Council of Agriculture and Water, and Isidro Carrasco Francisco Navarro, together with the President of the Segura basin, Miguel Angel Ródenas, Deputy Director of Construction Acuamed, Gabriela Mañueco, President of Irrigation Union Eagles, Fernando Martinez, and the president of the Irrigation Community of Eagles, Pedro Jimenez, among other officials, visited today the raft Salinares (Peñaranda reservoir) on the occasion of the arrival of the first supplies water from the Desalination Plant "Eagles-Guadalentín".

The plant is currently completing the final stages of construction, with an investment of 238 million euros, is developed by the State Water Society of Mediterranean Basin (Acuamed) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, and during these days is in testing phase, performed with the first reverse osmosis racks.

During the ceremony, the mayor aquiline, Bartolome Hernandez, said that "Eagles desalinating takes several years, in fact this is the third floor with the account of the municipality, so farmers and citizens of aquiline eagles are generally aware of the importance of this precious resource for our land. Maybe that's why farmers aquiline know to make the most of every drop of water, despite its high cost, brought to market a high quality horticultural products. "

Hernandez also wanted to clarify that "the arrival of water for our fields is always good news, whatever its source, but that is something that does not conflict with the historical vindication of a national water plan that is capable of providing water quality at low cost, making our products more competitive, using desalination plants as a supplement to the times when drought precludes transfers. "
