Eagles marks the World Environment Day (05/06/2012)

The events were held at the IES "Europe" and have attended the Mayor of Eagles and other city officials and the former director general of the European Environment Agency and the director of the Sustainable Development Foundation, together with different educational community members of the Centre.

Today Tuesday, June 5, the city of Eagle has joined the commemoration of World Environment Day with a series of events in the Secondary School "Europe".

The IES "Europe" is a school girl, who has chosen education and environmental management as one of its hallmarks.

Among the educational programs that are developed in it, include the project "Eco Center", which aims to create a sustainable space where you analyze, think and act in order to reduce energy consumption and natural resources, promotion of energy renewable, reduced waste generation and recycling "to zero waste", creation and adaptation of outdoor green spaces and improve relations with nature and living environment, as reported today Angel Lopez, one of the teachers who have promoted this initiative.

The mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez, and Council on the Environment and Education, Isidro Carrasco and Francisco Clemente, respectively, together with other local authorities, they presided over the program of activities which also helped the former Director General of the Agency European Environment, Domingo Jimenez, and the director of the Sustainable Development Foundation, Emilio Ballester, with different members of the educational community of the Centre, headed by its director, Ismael Lucena.

Starting the Ecopoint:

Point is a separate collection that features five fractions: glass (green container), Paper / Cardboard (blue container), plastic containers, cans and cartons (yellow container) Batteries / Battery (container Fuchsia), Rest (gray container).

Inauguration of the Botanical Garden School:

It is a green area in the center courtyard, with a representation of the flora of the southeastern Spanish.

It starts with a stocking of about 30 species, distributed in 600 square feet, but in the future and in different phases will reach 8,000 square meters.

The Botanical Garden will not be a passive space, but be open to the entire school community and citizens of the town, developing tasks of research, conservation and education.

Presentation of the Energy Efficiency Plan:

Its aim is to propose rational solutions to achieve steady logical and efficient use of energy resources available, thus improving comfort conditions of buildings housing schools, with a decrease in operating and maintenance costs, and the impact environment.

This is a consumer to become efficient through power generation from renewable sources in the very center, also including works of information and training, both of teachers and pupils and other users.

In this regard, IES 'Europe' has started the process with an energy audit, conducted in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Foundation, which will allow savings of 25% in one center and very energy efficient and with intent to transfer to " zero consumption "with the self-generation of renewable energy, which makes him a pioneer in the field of energy and always from the perspective of environmental care.

Solar Cooking Exhibition:

This is a device which centralizes all the solar energy onto a focal point, allowing the cooking of food.
