The Department of Health of the City of Eagle has started this week about healthy eating workshops, aimed at pupils in the second cycle of primary education, from five schools in the municipality.

About 600 students will participate in these workshops, which will take place during the months of April and May, in which two monitors will affect the importance of acquiring healthy eating habits.

The mayor of Health, Ana Maria Miñarro, and the Councillor for Education, Francisco Clemente, this morning visited the school Mediterranean, accompanied by its director, Antonio Licerán, since this is one of the schools where it is developing this activity.

There, local authorities have stated that "it is essential to implement such actions, since Spain is the second European Union country with the highest number of overweight children."

Miñarro has highlighted the need to educate children and their parents and engage them to acquire good eating habits, as the best tool to avoid these problems of overweight.

The workshop aims to achieve the following objectives:

Instill healthy habits in purchasing power through a healthy breakfast.

Rate the importance of a healthy and balanced diet.

Know the different types of foods and their main characteristics.

Appreciate the importance of healthy breakfast as the most important meal of the day.

Develop habits of eating behavior.
