The Government Team of the PSOE gave green light yesterday to the municipal budgets for the year 2018;

"a budget that does not increase with respect to 2017 because revenues do not increase and these are not increased because this PSOE Government Team is very clear that one of its objectives is to reduce the fiscal pressure of citizens", assured the socialist mayor of the Treasury, Tomás Consentino.

On this matter the head of the Economic block of the City Council of Águilas explained that a good part of the income of the City Councils come from the collection of taxes such as the Ibi or the circulation tax, therefore - continued the mayor - "if this departure of income does not grow is because neither do the taxes that generate it and this is a reality that shows the numbers ".

The contrast of this slight reduction of taxes, in a municipal budget quantified in 27.353.763 euros, is the necessary containment of the expense;

a containment that, however, will not affect the social items since the person in charge of the Treasury in the Águilas City Council made it clear that "the Socialist Government Team will continue to place emphasis on what really matters: the people".

For this reason, important items such as those that make it possible to open school canteens in summer for children at risk of social exclusion, summer schools for children with special educational needs or the Bank of Books for all schoolchildren in the municipality are still active. .

"This is still the legislature of the people and not of the great works and, precisely for that reason, in this assumptions that today we approve the items that have grown are those of Promotion of Employment, Health, with an increase of 7.83%; that of Education, which registers a rise of 10.23%, or that of Community Welfare, with an increase of 11.84% ".

The socialist mayor of the Treasury also referred to the surplus presented by the municipal coffers and that in 2016 increased by 26% compared to 2015, the last year of the Popular Party government.

A surplus that continues to increase thanks, among other things, to the remnants of credit, said the mayor, "we will use to try to lower municipal debt, the only scale in which we are not as good as we should, precisely for the loan of almost two million euros to pay to Fomento de Áreas Deportivas SA, the company that built the golf course in Isla del Fraile, for the disastrous management carried out by the previous PP Government Team ".
