We have magnificent beaches but lacking many infrastructures and we believe that the Regional Government can not continue to have us abandoned. "
With these words the mayor and secretary general of the socialists aquiline, Mari Carmen Moreno, has denounced this morning the lack of a model of tourism development in the sun and beach sector in the Region of Murcia.
Moreno made the remarks during a press conference in which he announced that the Municipal Socialist Group will raise to the next plenary session of July a motion in which the regional government is urged to draw up a Quality Plan for the Tourist Sector of Sun and Beach for the municipality of Eagles.
The first aquiline mayor was accompanied in this announcement by the deputy Alfonso Martinez and Isabel Casalduero, who have agreed with the general secretary of the PSOE aquiline in denouncing the fact that "in 22 years of the PP government we still do not know what our model Of tourism development ".
Casalduero and Martnez, who already presented this same motion recently in the Assembly receiving the votes against the Popular Party, have assured that "it is necessary only to look at our neighboring communities, with which we can compare ourselves in the matter of tourism, to conclude that in Murcia things are not doing well and that the results of the sector are always below average. "
In this sense, the socialist deputies, with data in hand, have indicated that the percentage of growth of travelers who visited tourist accommodation in the Region in 2015 grew by 2.9% while the Spanish average stood at 6.2%;
In overnight stays our growth was 2.6% and the average of Spain of 4.5%;
In profitability of the hotel sector the regional figure is 52.17 euros compared to 75.4 euros for the rest of Spain;
And in average income per room here is 18.6 euros and in Spain 44.5 euros.
The solution to this problem - said Martnez Baos, is "to carry out quality planning in the medium and long term and to acquire commitments between public administrations to develop it, evaluate it and achieve the desired objectives.
