The arrival of winter and the storm "Filomena" have exponentially increased the demand for electricity; an increase in consumption that has been accompanied by a rise in the cost of the energy tariff.
Aware of this problem, the Aguileños councilors will take this matter to the next Corporate Plenary Session of the Águilas City Council, which will meet on the 26th in its ordinary session in January.
Among the motions that will be debated, the Councilor for Citizens Donosa Bustamante has presented a proposal on the reduction of the electricity tariff, on which the mayor of the Municipal Socialist Group Tomás Consentino has raised an amendment, according to which it will be voted "to urge the Government from Spain to: Continue with the measures that have managed to reduce the price of electricity in the wholesale market by 40% during the last two years.
Expedite the creation of the Electricity System Sustainability Fund.
Streamline and comply with point 3.2 of the Government agreement signed between PSOE and United We Can, and undertake a profound reform of the electricity market that avoids these situations of extremely high prices.
Urge the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC), as the regulatory body of the energy sector, to open an investigation in which it is clarified with transparency how producers have operated in recent days, in order to avoid suspicions about anticompetitive actions by some market agents, to which some companies have us so accustomed ".
The amendment to the aforementioned motion includes an interesting point, to be voted on by the councilors, according to which "the City Council of Águilas, for this year, will guarantee a sufficient budget item, in Chapter 4 of Social Services (aid to precariousness) , in order to be able to face the payments of electricity bills that the aquilines and aquilines have in vulnerable situations.
