CC Águilas Plaza donates 12 tablets to the URCI association (15/09/2020)

| The Shopping Center finances a project that will provide telematic attention, psychotherapy and training to URCI users | This morning, the manager of the Águilas Plaza Shopping Center, Gema Simó, has delivered 12 tablets to the URCI Day Center, so that they can continue to provide a quality service to the users of said entity, three of which have collected the devices representing all his peers. As a consequence of the declaration of the State of Alarm, the closure of the Day Centers was decreed, with the routines and support required by people with disabilities being interrupted.

The impact of confinement was significantly greater in these people, since it implied substantial changes in their daily lives, as well as the need to adapt quickly to a new reality, which is very complicated in this case.Faced with this situation, the URCI Association has sought alternative ways to serve its users.

"We believe that people with disabilities and their families should continue to be cared for, even with greater intensity.

Therefore, we have had to react by redirecting professional support to other care modalities.

Especially through telematics," said the director of the Association for Care for People with Intellectual Disabilities URCI, María José Pérez. However, they encountered great difficulty, due to the existing digital gap between the families of the Day Center users, which limited communication and attention for some of them.

And this is where the Águilas Plaza Shopping Center did not hesitate to contribute its grain of sand, donating 12 tablets so that they can continue with the magnificent work that this Association does in Águilas.

"When they asked us for help, we did not hesitate for a moment, since we know URCI users, they come to the Shopping Center daily and we have great affection for them.

Therefore, we were delighted to respond to their request and we are happy to be able to collaborate in improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families ", commented the manager of Águilas Plaza, Gema Simó, during the delivery of the devices. The president of the Parents Association, Pepi López, also wanted to thank the Águilas Plaza Shopping Center for their solidarity and explained that "they are going to learn to use them here in the Center in case they confine us again, so that we do not see ourselves in the situation we had.

to happen.

These tablets will allow us to do many activities with them and we are very grateful.
