| "We cannot allow the money from the Contingency Fund approved in the budgets to be used to contribute the 20% corresponding to the City of Águilas de a strategy that has been in place since 2018 "| Aguilas, August 14.

The Popular Party of Águilas has abstained from voting in the extraordinary plenary session held yesterday to approve a budget modification, in order to use more than ninety thousand euros from the Contingency Fund included in the 2020 Budgets. The councilor of the PP, José García, has explained that "this fund is an amount of money destined to solve unforeseen events, which is used in the development of Municipal Budgets to refer to the amount of money that is reserved to solve unforeseen events not included initially in the budgets, avoiding putting them at risk, according to article 31 of Organic Law 2/2012, of April 27, on Budgetary Stability and Financial Sustainability, not to get 20% of the money that corresponds to it contribute to the City Council of Águilas in a project that has been underway since 2018 " "If something is clear, it is that the use of the Contingency Fund should be applied to extraordinary and unforeseen expenses, not to financially endow an item that for a long time has been known to be carried out, it cannot be improvised on a budget previously established with charge to this fund ", has detailed the mayor. García recalled that "in May of this year the Popular Party requested the plenary session that the City Council of Águilas increase said fund, in order to allocate it to alleviate the social effects arising from the economic crisis derived from the health crisis of COVID-19 , to which the socialist government team of Mari Carmen Moreno, voted against ". "Now we find that more than € 90,000 from the Contingency Fund will be used to contribute 20% that corresponds to the City Council, of a subsidy received from the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Operational Program 2014-2020 EDUSI" something planned since 2018 , has related Sánchez, who has pointed out that "specifically for the improvement of accessibility and equipment for urban mobility, of a Plan that is still unfinished its drafting by the successful bidder, but that unilaterally the city council is already making decisions". Finally, José García pointed out that "the Popular Party wants to make it very clear that they are not against carrying out actions that make Águilas a sustainable city, adapted to the times and committed to the environment, but we are clear that this is not It is the way to use the money of all citizens, since the Contingency Fund is budgeted for unforeseen actions and this is not the case, that is why we cannot approve the way that the mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, has had of raising this situation , since we do not know what unforeseen events the future may bring us.
