The Levante Bay will have in a few days a bicycle lane that will run parallel to the Promenade and that will extend from the fishing pier to the Auditorium and Conference Center.
A total of 1,200 meters of cycling area that are part of the actions included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan; a plan, included within the lines of action of the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) and 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the 2014-2020 Multiannual Operational Program of Spain, for the improvement of mobility in the urban area, as well as for the gradual implementation of a modality that reduces greenhouse gas emissions. This urban bike path will allow the connection with the existing one that goes around the entire municipality.
"The objective," pointed out the Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, during the presentation in which she has been accompanied by the ediles of Citizen Security and Mobility, Tomás Consentino and José Manuel Gálvez, "is to make our municipality a kinder place with the pedestrian, facilitating non-motorized movements.Also- he has continued saying- the creation of this bicycle lane and, in short, the application of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan supposes the fulfillment of a commitment contained in the electoral program with which this Team of Government attended the municipal elections.
" For the marking of said lane, bollards and road markings will be used on the asphalt.
It should also be noted that during the press conference the mayor announced that, "in approximately one month, traffic will be reordered on Paseo de Parra, which will become one-way as the opposite direction will be diverted by Aire street with the imminent opening of the bridge over the Rambla de Las Culebras ".
