| Antelo and Menduiña met with the Chief Master of the Fishermen's Association of this municipality, who conveyed their concern about the new European Union regulations | José Ángel Antelo, President of VOX in Murcia, and Carmen Menduiña, Provincial Treasurer and Spokesperson for VOX Lorca, have met with Manuel Díaz, Senior Patron of the Eagles Fishermen's Association, to discuss the serious problems that fishermen in this municipality have they are having to carry out the work that they have been doing for many generations.Antelo and Menduiña, representing VOX, have shown their support for the sector while Díaz transferred the problems they have with competition from other countries that do not belong to the European Union, as is the case of Morocco with prices well below the national market before making it impossible to be competitive, believing that the solution could be to impose tariffs for kilos of fishing outside the EUThe new EU regulations have proposed a gradual reduction to 40% of the days that trawlers can work, going from an average of 200 days a year to just 120 working days, a measure that makes the development of this totally unfeasible.

activity to their owners, which would have a negative impact on the jobs of their crews.

A fundamental aspect for fishermen and that has been highlighted at the meeting has been the one referring to biological control.According to Manuel Díaz, "they cannot fish prawns [one of their specialties], there being sufficient quantity due to inappropriate biological control."José Ángel Antelo recalled that VOX is "with the national product and is against the oligarchies that rule in Brussels and the globalists who attack our fishing sector with the complicity of other national parties", adding: "VOX is with the Early Spain, we are not going to allow a traditional primary sector to sink that so many families depend on and that generates so much wealth for the municipality of Águilas ”.The port of this municipality is the smallest in the Region of Murcia, in view of the great demand for mooring points due to the increase in boats of the Culmares company, instead of restructuring and modifying the space where the sailboats are located, they are removed directly to local fishermen: "We do not want to remove moorings from sailboats, but to arrange them differently," said Manuel Díaz."I will transmit all these demands to our parliamentarians in Europe so that the necessary measures are taken: we will always look after the interests of the Spaniards who need us," concluded the Provincial President.
