The Popular Party considers it necessary to reduce the IRF modules for the Ãguilas tomato sector (13/04/2020)

The councilor of the Popular Party of Eagles, Francisco Navarro, has asked the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, to "urgently urge the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to request the Ministry of Finance to reduce the rate of Net yield applicable in 2019 to the agricultural activity of tomato cultivation in our municipality. "

Navarro explained that "one of the main crops developed in Águilas is the tomato, made mostly by small and medium farmers who are subject to the objective estimation method of the Individual Income Tax".

The mayor has stated that "we have observed that in the order of the Ministry of Finance HAC / 329/2020 for the reduction of the 2019 tax period on the net return rates applicable in the objective estimation method of the Personal Income Tax , no reductions have been included for Eagles in tomato cultivation, from the Municipal People's Group we consider it essential to reduce the type of this module ".

"It is surprising that our City Council did not request, in due time and form, the reduction of the modules," lamented the mayor, taking into account that "the year 2019 has been especially difficult for this crop, producers have had to face plant health problems, pests, autumn and winter rains and high humidity have caused serious fungus problems, "adding" sales prices have not favored tomato either, having a rather negative first quarter of the year. and a last disastrous quarter, as it was not remembered in the last decade. "

Also, the councilor stressed that "the production costs of tomato year after year are increasing making this crop less and less profitable, but which in turn is very interesting for our municipality due to the ability to generate employment it has" .

"We are in time to rectify", the councilor has clarified, "we have registered this measure so that it is urgently included on the agenda of the next municipal plenary session, and approved by all the municipal groups.

Francisco Navarro concluded by stating that "now more than ever we have to thank our farmers for all the effort they are making during this state of alert for Covid-19 to supply families and that their products are on our tables every day."
