The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the Councilor for Sports, Cristóbal Casado received Borja Rodríguez Rodríguez, the Aguilar runner of the Dakar rally yesterday, a feat he has completed with his partner Joan Font, part of the Girona team FNspeed.
Rodriguez, excited to have achieved such a feat, told how difficult it was to complete each of the 12 stages not free of obstacles, overcoming stones and rocks in each section of the road;
large dunes, mechanical problems, cold, few hours of rest and other setbacks that made each section a great feat to get it done.
The companionship during the race was remarkable both by his team and the rest of the participants, rubbing shoulders with great drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Marc Coma or Jesús Calleja, among many others.
Surely next year they will roll again on the great dunes of Arabia where they will have this first experience that they have solved in a splendid way and of which they must be very proud.
The head of the Local Executive and the mayor of Sports, were proud of such a valuable sporting feat and thanked the effort made by Borja Rodríguez, who leaves the pavilion of our municipality very high, encouraging him to continue making history.
