This is a project that comes from a grant from the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare in order to guarantee the basic right of food, leisure and culture of minors during school holidays and the reconciliation of family and work life and managed by the Department of Social Policy through the Municipal Center of Social Services.
In this way, and after a previous registration period, 52 minors from the municipality of Águilas will be able to access this Christmas School, which will be a support for working families during the school holidays of these dates.
The project includes the attention of children from 0 to 12 years of age.
On the one hand, in the stage prior to early childhood education, that is, from 0 to 3 years old, families may choose, during the holiday period, for any of the nurseries or play centers in the municipality where they can leave the children on schedule from 07:00 to 18:00 hours, maximum.
In the case of children in primary and secondary school, it will be held at the Ramón y Cajal school facilities from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., where they can carry out recreational and leisure activities, with the dining room service included.
From the Department of Social Policy and Health of the City of Águilas state that these types of activities are necessary and represent an essential resource to facilitate the reconciliation of working families, who often do not have the necessary help to care for children during the holiday periods, which are usually greater than those of the parents.
Likewise, they indicate that it is an initiative that is free for requesting families, as it is subsidized by public funds and they claim that the possibility of re-carrying it out for Easter holidays will be studied.
