The Municipal Sports Board of Eagles hosted last Saturday the act of discovery of the plaque that is inscribed: Pedro Bayona Marín Sports Pavilion.
During the ceremony, held at the aforementioned sports facility, Bayonne was surrounded by her two children, family, friends, people linked to the world of sports and local authorities, among which were the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the mayor of Sports, Cristóbal Casado, and other members of the Municipal Corporation.
Also present was the president of the Murcian Basketball Federation, Juan Carlos Hernández.
"To talk about sport in Águilas is to talk about Pedro Bayona Marín."
With these words the mayor wanted to highlight the trajectory of the honoree who also said that "not only taught his passion, basketball, to young fans, but transmitted important values."
In the same way, he affirmed that "this recognition is only a detail with someone dear and respected by all the people in all areas of life."
For his part, the Councilor for Sports read the Plenary agreement last April in which, unanimously of all political groups, it was agreed to grant this recognition as a sign of gratitude for the more than 35 years dedicated to basketball in our location.
The large audience attended in applause for this admired person, who had words of thanks to the city council, for all the players he has been in charge of, as well as for the coaches and the Club BC Águilas of which he was president, coach and sponsor.
Nor did he forget the support of his family and extended his thanks to the board of trustees.
He also made a special mention to his closest collaborators, such as Domingo Jerez, Juan Carlos García and Gabriel Moreno.
Finally, after discovering the Bayona badge he received a gift from his current players as a reminder of this emotional moment.
