Ciudadanos Ãguilas demands measures to avoid health and environmental problems due to agricultural burning (28/10/2018)

The training wants the Health and Environment Councils to regulate this practice and offer the alternative of using fuel as biodiesel

"It can not be that the regulation of the uses of fire is the same for a barbecue and for this type of burning," says the head of Municipal Policy, Antonio Barba

Citizens will request in the next Plenary session a "better regulation of agricultural burns", after receiving a flood of neighborhood complaints regarding smoke and bad smells derived from this practice.

"We believe that in this matter there is a lack of functions and a clear lack of control on the part of the regional administration," said the coordinator of the training, Francisco Martínez, who stressed that "the inconveniences have even reached the interior of some classrooms, and have lasted for days, with smoke invading areas of the urban area. "

The orange motion asks the Ministry of Health and Environment "better regulation of this type of agricultural burn."

The training will present a Motion to the Plenary to urge the Ministry of Health and the Environment to better regulation of this type of agricultural burning, which have also caused problems in other municipalities of the Region.

"To avoid pests or avoid frost, you can not put the health of your neighbors at risk," Martínez said.

"If one observes the request for authorization of uses of the current fire, it is surprising that it is worth as much to make a barbecue as for this type of burning, which end up being annoying and dangerous for the neighbors", lamented for his part the head of Municipal Policy Antonio Barba

"We do not want to prohibit, but surely there are alternative systems.

The burning of tomato plants and other agricultural products may contain traces of toxic substances, the importance of which should not be minimized.

An alternative could be to allocate all this plant material to composting or the manufacture of biodiesel, "concluded Barba.
