The City Council 'shaves' the lower parts of some palm trees to improve the safety of pedestrians (04/10/2018)

The Águilas City Council continues its efforts to improve the different green areas of the municipality while seeking an aesthetic improvement of these.

For this, "what has been done is to prune the palms located on the promenades, eliminating those parts that could cause some damage or friction to pedestrians," explained the mayor of Utility Companies, Isabel Fernandez.

This measure, which is only made in the lower parts of the copies, also seeks to achieve an aspect of visual improvement in face of the hundreds of people who walk the aquiline ride every day.

Some works that are carried out in an artisanal and manual way so as not to damage the specimen at any time, and always by specialized personnel in this type of work.

Likewise, an improvement of the general safety of the area is also achieved by avoiding any possible accident or accidental rubbing with the lower parts of the palms.

These actions, shaving the lower parts of the palm trees, add to those already made by the City of Águilas and the concessionaire company STV Gestión in which it has acted against, for example, the red palm weevil, also obtaining excellent results.

The City Council continues to work, daily, in the review and study of how to continue increasing the visual and practical potential of the different and numerous green areas of the aquiline municipality.
