An award that rewards sustainability (12/11/2015)

With 277,600 kilograms collected, the town has managed to overcome the challenge of increasing the collection of glass about the summer 2014.

On Tuesday November 10, the manager of Ecovidrio in the eastern part, Roberto Fuentes was presented the award that recognizes the City of Eagle having met the challenge imposed by the Plan Summer 2015. The trophy was picked up by the councilors of Environment Environment and Services, Torrente and Isabel Maria Isabel Fernandez, respectively.

Summer 2015 Plan, launched by Ecovidrio and the City of Eagle has recovered 277 600 kilograms of glass during the summer months;

this figure represents an increase of 24% over the previous year.

Eagle is one of the 40 municipalities, with a total of 60 participants, who have overcome the challenge set by the state.

Ecovidrio has enabled this quarterly plan, from July to September, aware of the importance of the summer season to achieve annual targets for recycling, as well as the influence of the hospitality industry, which consumes 50% of glass containers that are put at the market.

Eagles, the company has enjoyed the cooperation of 100 catering establishments.

The results were achieved thanks to the expansion of the collection of glass to properly manage the high number of visitors and increased activity in the Horeca (Hotels-Restaurants-Cafeterias) channel.

In addition, we have installed 20 new vinylated containers and have delivered more than 130 buckets adapted to the needs of the hospitality industry.

They have also carried out information and awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of continuing the recycling habits during the holidays.

Ecovidrio wants to increase the awareness of citizens of Eagle, and achieve an increase in the amount of recycled glass in the town.

According to the latest data for 2014, the citizens of the city recycled a total of 606,220 kilograms of glass, which means that each inhabitant recycle average 17.5 kg.

Regarding the rate of containerization, it lies Eagles with an average of 178 inhabitants per container, and at present a total of 195 igloos for packaging waste glass installed.
