The Civil Guard accused a person abandoning two dogs ended up dying (25/07/2014)

The investigation was initiated by the cooperation of citizens

The dead animals were located in an area isolated and inaccessible

The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, in the framework of the 'CEDENA' operation clarified abandonment and subsequent death of two dogs, whose bodies were found in an area of Eagle, with the complaint of a local resident , was allegedly responsible for two separate offenses relating to the protection of domestic animals.

The proceedings began earlier this month when a citizen informed the Meritorious that while on a hiking trail by an isolated and difficult to access the town of Aguilas area discovered the body of a dog in an advanced state of decomposition.

Agents of the Nature Conservation (SEPRONA) took over the investigation and conducted preliminary investigations in the scene where, besides the body denounced by dog walkers, located the skeletal remains of another animal , which was hidden inside a small and fenced area.

Starvation

Fruit of the evidence observed in the area and obtained during the investigation, the SEPRONA has found that the two animals were left intentionally by its owner, causing irremediable starvation (extremely weak and malnourished from lack of food) and dehydration.

The bodies of the dogs were tied with iron chains, which prevented freedom of movement and led to the fatal outcome.

The lack of food and water bowls in the area showed that the owner of the dogs did not pay the necessary care to provide minimum conditions of survival.

Unidentified animals

Both animals were devoid of mandatory microchip, making it difficult for researchers to identify its owner.

However, the investigations carried out by the Meritorious finally allowed researchers to identify and locate the owner of the Spanish canes, 41, resident of Eagle, to which you have been charged with two counts alleged responsibility for the protection of animals household.

The crime of "animal abuse"

The crime of animal abuse is enshrined in the Criminal Code, which defines it as the fact unjustifiably mistreating pets or tamed by any means or process, causing death or causing them injury which severely damage your health, and is punished with imprisonment from three months to one year imprisonment and disqualification special one to three years for the exercise of a profession, trade or business that is related to animals.
