The Eagles Castle houses an impressive model of the "Holy Trinity" donated by Julio Castelo Matrán (25/03/2013)

The governor outbuildings Castle "San Juan of the Eagles", located on the bank of San Pedro of this historical monument of the late eighteenth century house since last weekend a stunning model of the ship "Holy Trinity", donated by Julio Castelo Matrán aquiline, honorary president of the Foundation Mapfre.

Mayor Eagles, Bartolomé Hernández, Castelo hand picked this model that will be exhibited permanently in the landmark building, becoming a new attractive museum of a fortress by the stage each year more than 14,000 visitors.

The head of the local publicly thanked this illustrious aguileño the detail that has been with the municipality "putting together for the occasion and in record time, four months, the model of this ship was the most powerful of the Spanish Armada."

For his part, the president of honor of the Mapfre Foundation wished to recall that since Eagles hosted, in 2009, the exhibition which is showing 24 scale models of famous ships of the naval history, made by him, has had in mind the city donate a ship forever remain as part of the local heritage and that desire has finally been realized.

July Castelo said he chose the Holy Trinity as the Spanish ship gunship world's largest at the time (S. XVIII), equipped with four bridges of 140 guns and a crew of 1,048 men, being dismasted and captured in the famous battle of Trafalgar (1805) by the English ships, towed it as war booty to Gibraltar.

Finally sank about 25 miles south of Cadiz, which recently have been discovered the remains of the Spanish Armada.
