Eagles celebrates the International Museum Day with a day dedicated to "esparto" (17/05/2012)

The activities, organized by the Department of Culture and Heritage, will take place from Friday morning until Sunday, May 27.

The Department of Culture and Heritage of the City of Eagle has organized a series of events to mark International Museum Day, celebrated tomorrow Friday, May 18.

The holder of this area in the consistory aquiline, Francisco Miguel Martinez, said that, this time, the planned events are related to the history and manufacture of esparto and its importance in economic growth and development of the city.

Martinez reported that the activities will begin tomorrow, Friday and run until Sunday, May 27, with the following program:

Open day at the Municipal Archaeological Museum:

Friday morning will extend its opening hours until 22.00 hours, providing detailed information about the model set out in those premises, showing the operation of a plaiting.

These explanations will be given by Antonio Mena, author of the model, and Peter, Bartholomew and Diego Roman Roman Jimenez and Pedro Galvez (The Mori), traditional family esparteros aquiline, and will be supported by audiovisual presentations on the subject.

During the morning session, visitors who come to the Museum may request a pass for the free visit to the Castle of San Juan de las Aguilas, during this weekend.

On 18, 19 and May 20 in the morning, craft shows by the esparteros: Jose Pinero Diaz, Salvador Calvo Montalban and Antonio Soto Navarro Virginio Lajarín Asensio.

From 18 to 27 May, in that museum, photographic exhibition of artist Juan Hernandez on the esparto.

Tomorrow, Friday, May 18, between 17.00 and 21.00 pm in the Plaza of Spain, next to City Hall, the spinner Asensio Bernardo Navarro, raking draw esparto rope.
