Public Works improves access to the beaches with the road widening Eagles to Calarreona (07/07/2010)

The road now has two lanes in each direction of 3.5 meters each, after some works that have included the construction of a bicycle lane in the middle section to promote sustainable mobility in the municipality

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Eagle, Juan Ramirez, today inaugurated the road connecting with Calarreona Eagles (RM-333), where the Ministry has completed the expansion works and conditioning will improve access to the beaches of this area.

The advisor stressed that "this route, which registers more than 2.3 million drivers a year, undergoes a remarkable increase in traffic during the summer months, reaching peaks of up to 10,000 vehicles per day, which is more than double its current normal traffic. Therefore, the work carried out to increase the security, comfort and agility on the move at the most needed and will directly benefit both the residents of the municipality and the thousands of visitors and tourists who receive Eagles during the summer season. "

The work, which has involved a total investment of 1,618,685 euros by the regional government has included the construction of a bike lane eight feet wide in the middle section of the track to promote sustainable mobility in the municipality.

Moreover, José Ballesta said that "the works carried special significance for the enhancement of communications with Andalusia, since this road is one of the doors for drivers arriving from the neighboring community."

The works have included the widening of the road, which now has two lanes in each direction of 3.5 meters each, and two meters wide outside and inside of a meter.

In addition, action has included the construction of three roundabouts, two of 23 meters and an inner diameter of 20 meters.

Safer roads in the area

Another action taken by the Ministry to increase road safety in the area was the recent removal of a black dot at the intersection of roads linking the Eagles with the municipality of Vera (RM-333) and the hamlet El Cocón (RM-D18).

With the execution of the work, which had an investment of 705,690 euros, the former became a roundabout intersection at 72 meters with two lanes outside diameter of four meters wide, and also built two lanes and two shortcuts traffic congestion at the roundabout on the variant to the hamlet of El Cocón.
