Fish with Art arrives in Ãguilas in March to involve the public in a more sustainable consumption of fish, which contributes to the conservation of marine biodiversity and traditional fishing techniques (16/03/2018)

The appointment will be on March 24 through the workshop "Peceando" and the show-cooking "responsible fishing in your kitchen", organized by the Columbares Association, the City Council of Águilas, Hosteáguilas and the fishmonger "Los Hijos del Niño".

Pescados con Arte is an initiative of the Columbares Association and the Association of Artisanal Fishermen of the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park (PESCARTES) to make known to the public the social, environmental, cultural and gastronomic value of the fishing captured in a craft on the Murcian-Almeria coast and promote the consumption of sustainable seafood.

Simultaneously, Pescados con arte wants to disseminate the marine reserves of fishing interest as the most effective management tools for the regeneration of fishing resources and the conservation of marine biodiversity, focusing efforts on the marine reserves of Cabo de Palos-Islas Hormigas, Cabo Tiñoso and Cabo de Gata-Níjar and Natura 2000 network areas of the project scope.

With the arrival of spring, Fish with Art moves to Águilas, a municipality closely linked to the sea since ancient times, where fishing activity has had and still has a very relevant role.

In this scenario where the sea breeze and fish are protagonists, the Columbares Association, the Department of Tourism, Local Development and Training of the City of Águilas, the Hotel and Tourism Association of Águilas (Hosteáguilas) and the fish market "Los Hijos del Niño" ", they have added efforts to bring artisanal fishing closer to the citizens and promote their participation in the conservation of this millenary activity and the seabed of the locality.

The proposed activities will be held on March 24 and are aimed at all citizens:

In "Peceando", the youngest of the house can learn what artisanal fishing is through a fun workshop in which they will get to know some fishing gear and the seasonal fish species that are fished with them.
