The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Sports, Cristóbal Casado, have received the ultramarathon runner Pedro Vera, again proclaimed champion, by accumulation of points, in the Roadsign Continental Challenge, after having completed his participation of 220 kilometers in the Ultra Africa Race 2017, and to arrive seventh in the general, with a chrono of 29 hours and 29 minutes.
The 2016 and 2017 champion has participated in the following competitions of the international circuit:
• Ultra Bolivia Race 170 km (America) in June 2014
• Ultra India Race 200 km (Asia) in January 2015
• Ultra Norway Race 160 km (Europe) in July 2015
• Ultra Africa Race 217 km (Africa) October 2015
• Ultra Vietnam Race 160 km (Asia) in March 2016
• Ultra Norway Race 140 km (Europe) in July 2016
• Ultra Bolivia Race 170 km (America) in September 2016
• Ultra Africa Race 220 km (Africa) in November 2017
Vera, of aquiline parents and settled in our town, was born with a heart condition, Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome, which he was able to overcome thanks to his sports development.
He is a Sports and Life coach certified by Bc Fitness, licensed by the International Association of Coaching, IAC.
It now aims to participate in 2019 in the Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra, a race of 430 miles of snow and temperatures of -40 ° C, in Yukon, far northeast of Canada bordering the Arctic Ocean.
Currently, he is competing for a sports scholarship from the company GAES Pursue your dreams.
The sports project with the most votes registered for January 2018 will win the sponsorship.
