The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, has highly appreciated the unanimous approval of all the political groups of the Regional Assembly of the motion presented by the Socialist Parliamentary Group to urge the Ministry of Education to study the possibility of implementing, in the shortest possible time, the Middle degree of Cooking and Gastronomy in the IES Rey Carlos III.

The first aquiline mayor has reiterated the importance of the aforementioned degree being taught in Águilas;

a municipality in which - he has assured - "tourism is one of the fundamental pillars of the economy and that, therefore, needs to have qualified professionals".

Moreno has insisted on the need to "bet on training programs that adapt to the real needs of the municipality, thus increasing the employability of the students of the same."

In this sense, the head of the aquiline Executive has met this morning with the general director of Vocational Training and Special Education, Sergio López.

During the meeting the general director has committed himself to the Mayor of Águilas to study the start-up for the 2018/2019 academic year of a Training Cycle in the Hospitality branch.

Moreno, returns to transmit to the general director of FP the need for the implementation in the municipality of a training cycle of this branch and reminds the general manager that the training offer of FP has not grown in recent years in the town, that there is no training offer related to one of the most important economic sectors of the town, such as tourism and that the sector itself has difficulties in hiring trained and prepared people.

The general director of FP, has transferred to the Mayor who is going to address the General Directorate of Centers so that the Technical Unit values ​​the facilities of the IES Rey Carlos III where these teachings would be taught and that when they have the report they will value what Formative Cycle it could begin to be taught in the locality for the 2018/2019 academic year.

They have also agreed to hold a meeting with the business community of Águilas, to inform them about Dual FP, and thus transform some Training Cycle of those taught in the locality in Dual.
