Nearly 80% of the contributions to the participatory budgets have already been executed or are in process (08/11/2017)

About 80% of the citizen proposals submitted to the participatory budgets of 2017 have already been made or are in process, as announced yesterday at a press conference by the councilors of Participación Ciudadana, Luis López, and Hacienda, Tomás Consentino.

The 375 neighborhood contributions to the municipal budgets, after being screened to eliminate all those that were duplicated, were translated, finally, into 115 proposals included in the municipal budget distributed in areas such as public thoroughfare;

security;

public work;

accessibility;

local development;

and culture and education.

In general, the mayor of Participación Ciudadana said that "60 are currently completed, in process 21 and in study 23. To these figures would have to add 11 actions that despite not being municipal competition have already been transferred to the competent bodies as this is the case of improvements in sanitary matters or the fencing of the road in certain points of the urban area, among others ".

Entering into concrete actions, Lopez referred, within the section of completed actions, to the rearrangement of traffic in the neighborhood of La Huerta;

the increase in parking reserved for people with disabilities;

the plan of accessibility and elimination of architectural barriers;

the increase of transportation scholarships for students;

the improvements in the Polideportivo pool;

the renovation of the furniture in the Municipal Library or the creation of spaces for children with disabilities, among other actions.

For his part, the councilor of Finance valued very positively "the interest and participation on the part of the neighbors in terms of deciding on what to spend the public money, as well as the commitment on the part of the Government Team to comply with these demands" .

Consentino pointed out that the participatory budgets, put in place in the current legislature, "are the example of the new procedure of the current Government Team, they are one more step in transparency, participation and, ultimately, open government".
