Traders, restaurateurs and City council agree to value very positively the summer 2017 (08/09/2017)

The sectors of the hotel industry and commerce of Eagles have valued the summer season in Eagles as "very positive" while they have emphasized that during the months of July and August Eagles has registered, not only an increase in the number of visitors but also a an important increase in the average expenditure of each of them.

These are the first data provided by Juan Manuel Zaragoza, president of the Association of Merchants, and Vicente Sánchez, president of the Association of Hospitality and Tourism, during a press conference held this morning in the Ayuntamiento aquiline.

The presidents of both associations have accompanied the first mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, who stressed "the importance of being the own restaurateurs and merchants who make the balance of the summer, because they are the first ones who know the reality of the sector ".

Although from Hosteaguilas and ACIA agree that "it is not yet possible to speak about accurate data, the surveys show that the increase has been clear."

Thus, for example, Zaragoza referred to the fact that "many of the establishments that normally participate in the Outlet Fair, which takes place in October, will have a very difficult time coming after having run out of stock after the summer season."

For its part, the mayor of Tourism highlighted that Aguilas has been the municipality of the Region with the highest percentage of occupation during the month of August, specifically 93%, while it has been very satisfied by the increase of almost one 7% in the number of visitors.

Before ending the meeting with the media, the head of the aquiline Executive has pointed out that, despite the good data, we are aware that there is much to be done at the tourist level.

In this sense, Moreno has referred to the need to bet, from the administrations, by the qualification of the sector.

"We believe that it is essential that a tourist resort has qualified people and we are aware that achieving this must be a commitment both local and regional administration, for that reason," he continued, "we have requested a meeting with the director of the SEF so that the training courses that are offered in the locality are oriented, among other sectors, to the hotel and services sector.

The mayor has also referred to the importance of working for the deseasonalisation of the sector and to make Águilas an attractive place for investors since "betting on tourism is betting on employment."

To finalize the first mayor has made an appeal to the Regional Government which has urged "to take into account a municipality as wonderful as the one in Aguilas that is also part of the coast of Murcia."
