Águilas joined last Saturday to commemorate the International Day of the Gypsy People with a program of activities organized by the local council and Pochibo Caló Association.
The events began at the door of the Town Hall, where the gypsy flag waved throughout the day, with the reading of the institutional manifesto of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano, which was read by the Mayor of Aguilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the Ediles Tomás Consentino and Ginés Desiderio Navarro.
The activities continued with the celebration of the symbolic "ceremony of the river", in memory of the victims of World War II.
The program of activities was completed by a talk entitled "Present and future of the gypsy people, education and training as a determining factor", by the edil de Educación, Vicente Ruiz, and an exhibition on the evolution of gypsy aquiline by photographer Juan Pernías .
After a meal of brotherhood was carried out a sample of music and cantes in charge of flamenco artists of the locality.
