The mayor of �guilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Carnival, Crist�bal Casado, have visited this morning the refurbishment works of the Carnival Museum, which will open its doors when the current situation is overcome.

Epidemiological.

The action, framed in the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy �guilas Sostenible, 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain 2014- 2020 is nearing completion and the mannequins are already wearing some of the most emblematic costumes of past Carnivals.

According to the mayor, "the idea is for the Carnival Museum to be a living and changing space, as is our Big Party".

For this reason, each year it will host the costumes of the characters of that Carnival, as well as those of the awarded Peà ± as.

There will also be a place for the Paper Costumes and an audiovisual room where the most important parades and events of the �guilas Carnival can be seen.

The first mayor has also highlighted the suitability of the location of this museum space in the House of Culture "for two reasons: its excellent location, central and accessible, as well as for the fact that the opening of the same will not suppose an extra cost in personnel, since these facilities have controllers in charge of their daily opening and closing ".

For his part, the Councilor for Carnival has celebrated that the works are almost finished.

"Although the Carnivals have had to be suspended due to the Pandemic, at least we can have a reference in this Museum, which we hope to be able to inaugurate when the health situation allows it." The works have consisted of three phases.

The first one, relating to facilities, had a budget of 65,041 euros.

Then the civil works were carried out, for an amount of 26,387 euros.

And at present the third phase is being finalized, destined to the musealization of this enclosure of approximately 200 square meters, with a budget of 47,707 euros.
