The proceedings began in June when a resident of Águilas reported to the Civil Guard the disappearance of numerous jewels, valued at around 50,000 euros, from the home of his mother, now deceased, which represented a large part of the family's assets . The first inquiries made it possible to find out that in the last two years of the jewelery owner's life, a household employee eventually came to the home. Simultaneously, the investigators inspected various gold buying and selling establishments in the municipality where they found evidence of the alleged sale or commitment of any of the pieces described by the complainant, characterized in that most were Egyptian themed. The civil guards carried out an extremely laborious and exhaustive task of collation of the operations carried out in recent years and verified that some of the stolen jewels were registered in the name of different sellers, which made us suspect that there could be a common link between all of them.

when proceeding the gold pieces from the same address. They pawned the jewels, recovered them and pawned them again The uniqueness of these operations consisted in repeatedly and systematically pawning the same piece of gold in different establishments and on behalf of different people, all of which made the investigation difficult until it was possible to determine that there was a coincidence among all the actors, the link with the family's housekeeper. After several months of intense investigation, the Civil Guard managed to identify two of the suspects, people whose whereabouts were unknown and who were finally located at a home in Águilas. The Civil Guard informed the judicial authority of the result of the investigation, who granted the corresponding order to enter and search the property, where a man and a woman, 59 and 44 years old, of Romanian nationality, were detained as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of theft, fraud and misappropriation.

The woman, in addition, was the domestic employee of the home that was the object of the theft. The investigation continued until two other members of the group were located, also related to the pawns and sale of the jewels, even more elusive, since they did not have a fixed address and had illegally stayed in a house in the town of Las Torres de Cotillas where they were located and detained.

They are a woman and a man, aged 42 and 36, of Romanian nationality. The 'Egipcium' operation has culminated in the dismantling of an experienced criminal group, whose four members have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of theft, fraud and misappropriation and with the recovery of practically all of the stolen jewels, valued of 40,000 euros that had been pawned in a jewelry store The investigation continues open, so other arrests and the recovery of more gold pieces are not ruled out. The detainees, the recovered jewelery and the proceedings carried out have been made available to the Investigating Court number 6 of Lorca (Murcia).
