The AEMET activates the orange alert due to storm risk in Ãguilas (26/08/2019)

The Department of Citizen Security of the City of Águilas reports that from 23 hours on Monday and until 15 hours on Tuesday, Águilas will remain on Orange Alert, in anticipation of rain and storms.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), rains can accumulate up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour, so the council has asked the citizens of Águilas to take into account these adverse weather conditions.

For all this, the Aguileño Consistory, through the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service, in anticipation of the rains that could be caused in Águilas, offers the following advice to the population:

Periodically check your roof and downspouts and eliminate any accumulation of debris, leaves, soil, etc., that may impede the passage of water to the sewer, ditch or ditch near your home.

Remove from the outside of the house those objects that can be dragged by the water.

If you have to leave your home, disconnect electricity, gas and water.

Do not touch electrical appliances if they are wet.

Do not park vehicles or camp in dry channels, or on rambles, to avoid being surprised by a sudden surge of water or a flood.

Never cross the flooded sections with your vehicle, since the force of the water can drag you off the road.

Stay permanently informed, through radio and other media, of the weather forecasts and the state of the situation.

In case of downpour, if you have to travel, try to circulate, preferably, on main roads and highways at a moderate speed.

If you are in the countryside, stay away from the base of the hills, where you may be surprised by the water that falls on its slopes.

It is also important to locate the high points of the area where you are, as you may need to address them in case of possible flooding.

The emergency telephones in our area, in case you had to use them, are the following:

- EMERGENCIES: 112

- CIVIL PROTECTION: 968 493 080

- LOCAL POLICE: 968 493 062
