Águilas expands its tourist offer with 68 seats in a new establishment (26/07/2018)

The municipality of Aguilas has today with a new tourist infrastructure, the hostel 'Bea Beach Hostel', which will respond to a new type of customer that increasingly demands this type of establishment.

The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Miriam Guardiola, today opened the new establishment that adds a total of 68 places to the tourist offer of the municipality and the Region.

In the last year "the opening and reopening of ten hotel establishments has been confirmed, with the consequent increase in the number of beds available," Guardiola said.

The opening takes place at a time of full modernization of the accommodation offer in the Region.

The counselor explained that "the objective is to continue looking for new lines of financing that help modernize and revitalize our resorts and hotel facilities, taking firm steps towards changing the tourist model, which can only be achieved if the destination has a new regulated offer. quality".

Tourist employment

Guardiola said that "the opening of this new infrastructure confirms the good moment in which the sector is."

Thus, he referred to the affiliation to the Social Security in the Region of Murcia in the set of activities of the tourism sector, which, in average terms, stood at the end of June at 56,256 people.

This figure represents the highest record in the historical series and a growth of 6.7 percent compared to June 2017, which represents 3,529 more workers in this sector than a year ago.

This growth is higher than that of the national tourism sector, which was 4.9 percent, and exceeds the growth of membership in the set of activities of the regional economy, 4.1 percent.

Similarly, the number of tourism businesses registered with the Social Security at the end of June was 6,927, 1.7 percent more than a year ago.

For the set of activities of the regional economy this growth was 0.1 percent.

"Both indicators show that tourism is a strategic sector, which currently acts as a lever for economic growth and employment," Guardiola concluded.
