The gardens of the municipality of Águilas are cared for in aspects that perhaps many citizens do not know.
Apart from being reviewed and treated daily by teams of professionals, the water with which they are watered and cared for is also studied and analyzed.
"What we do, among other tasks, is to carry out inspections on the correct operation and the good state of conservation and cleanliness of the mechanisms susceptible to contamination," explains Isabel Fernández, councilor of Service Provider Companies.
Inspections carried out by a technician of the concessionaire company STV Gestión with accreditation in irrigation systems.
Their job is to inspect the different parts of the land where the water arrives to see its reach and the way in which it sprays.
What do you get with this?
Know the sanitary status of the water, its correct functioning and if there are, or not, obstructions in the nozzles or filters.
How often are these revisions of water systems made?
The answer is based on the fact that irrigation circuits, nozzles and filters of the sprinklers are every six months, while if we talk about water treatments the periodicity is weekly.
For this reason, STV Gestión and Águilas City Council are replacing possible deteriorated elements such as drippers, diffusers, sprinklers or collectors, among others.
Similarly, in a constant effort to improve and supervise these elements, all sprinklers and diffusers are disinfected annually, with the dismantling of all their mechanisms taking place.
Cleaning and maintenance programs always correspond to what is stated in article 8.2 of Royal Decree 865/2003 to combat and reduce any possible case of legionella.
