Moreno says that despite the breakdown in the desalination plant the water for supply and irrigators in Ãguilas is guaranteed (28/06/2018)

The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the government delegate in Murcia, Diego Conesa, and the Minister of Water and Agriculture, Miguel Ángel del Amor, together with representatives of the irrigation communities of the municipalities of Águilas, Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras and Pulpí, visited this morning the desalination plant of Águilas where on Tuesday there was a breakdown, causing the inactivity of the same for at least two weeks.

The mayor and the government delegate, who prior to this visit have held a working meeting at the town council, wanted to send a message of tranquility to the aquiline municipality.

"Despite the fact that the supply of the urban helmet of Águilas depends 70% of this desalination plant, the citizens can rest assured that it is guaranteed, something that we have been able to confirm with the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla", assured Conesa.

Moreno, meanwhile, also wanted to convey a message of tranquility assuring "that, after the initial uncertainty and after talking with both the managers of the plant and with policy makers in Madrid, we can ensure that this situation is going to solve in the shortest possible time and that until then we will have guaranteed the supply and irrigation for our farmers. "

The first mayor has finished his speech before the media saying that "once again, the importance of this desalination plant has been highlighted for Águilas and for the entire Guadalentín Valley".
